Armature is a work about resilience and endurance. Created from the elemental materials of earth and metals, its worn and scarred surface represents the passing of time, and the challenges of life's experiences endured. The lead wrapped around the form suggests that being patched up and bolted together can make one stronger, and the brass crown atop the mountainous form represents a crown of achieving survival and emerging with poise and beauty.

I was excited and honoured to be included in the Artistic Ceramics Exhibition of the 16th International Ceramics Biennale in the UNESCO City of Ceramics, Manises, Spain.

The exhibition ran June to September 2024. 

Armature is a hand-built ceramic sculpture with slip, lead sheet and steel bolts. It is adorned with a handmade brass crown.
