Working with students creativity and share skills to deliver a brief is a challenge and a joy. Each project brings connection and contributes to community.

In 2025, I facilitated this project with a group of adult students from Kangan TAFE’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Cultural Program to create an artwork in the landscaping of the new Health and Community Centre of Excellence, in Broadmeadows.
The students were asked to select from a list of indigenous plant species provided by the landscape designers and interpret their selected plants using scrafitto with stain and underglaze on terracotta discs that they made by hand. They then created a design to be etched and laser-cut into the steel shrouds that wrapped the tops of the poles. This project was co-designed by the landscape architects for Kangan and implemented by the students and me.
